Winnipeg

Canada to the world tag, from abw92

The junction of the Red and Assiniboine Rivers became a transportation centre for the fur trade and settlement in the 1700's. The days when canoes and York boats laden with furs and provisions plied the muddy water of the Red River are now history. Today the river serves Winnipeg's recreational and aesthetic needs.
