The Adirondack Park of New York is the largest wilderness area remaining in the contiguous U.S. A park of 6 million acres, a patchwork of public and private lands habroring a diversity of wildlife, forests, streams, wetlands and mountains found nowhere else. The state-owned portion of the 40% is protected by the "forever wild" provision of the state consitution.
